A martial-artist education is centered around cultivation of one's character and spirit. Many people are familiar with sparring as a way of cultivating perserverance, sportsmanship, and strategy. However, a martial artist also studies the flow of yin and yang in all living and non-living things. This means that a martial artist studies the seasons and society, agriculture and architecture, and even books and writing.
This means a martial artist should develop a strategic mindset around many different topics. For example, perhaps we don't need to buy a "new" set of clothes, but instead learn how to coordinate the clothing we already have. Or perhaps we don't need to buy a new house, but instead organize the room and belongings we already have.
Over the course of our time together, some of the things we may talk about include:
F - Feng Shui and Fascia
Is a bigger room really better? How can we re-arrange what we already have to be complete?
I - Integrative nutrition
Does more food always make you feel fuller? How can we cook and eat to feel full?
V - Voice and the Power of Words
Is saying more better? Speak and choose words wisely.
E - Exercise and Energetics
Is more exercise always better? Train wisely.
S - Social connection and soft powerÂ
Make friends wisely.
T - Tea and Teeth
Does the best tea taste any better in a golden tea pot?
A - Acupressure
Why is posture important?
R - Reading
Why is reading and writing important? What happens when we write to the Universe?
